Air-operated double diaphragm (AODD) pumps are positive displacement pumps which utilize compressed air for fluid transfer. AODD pumps are used in a plethora of industrial applications to transfer high-viscosity oils and lubricants.

All-Flo air-operated double diaphragm pump construction

All-Flo AODD fluid transfer pumps implement a simple design comprising two diaphragms, a connecting rod assembly, check valves, an air valve, and a pilot valve. The simplicity of construction makes these pumps easier to service, faster to repair, and cheaper to operate than other pumps on the market.

How does an AODD pump work?

All-Flo AODD fluid transfer pumps utilize compressed air for fluid transfer. A connecting rod links the two diaphragms together, and rapid alternate displacement action between them results in continuous fluid flow.

When one chamber moves inward, it creates suction, which causes the ball to move towards each other. When this happens, the top valve closes, and the bottom valve opens, allowing fluid to flow through the chamber at the bottom. Thus, when one chamber is in suction mode, the other is in a discharge mode. To learn more about how All-Flo’s AODD pumps work and see the world’s simplest air valve in action, click here.
